The Greene County Livestock Association and Greene County Extension have roped a milestone this year by bringing in the Bubba Oubre Rodeo Company for the 25th annual Greene County Pro Rodeo this weekend.

The smell of saddle leather and sweaty horses will mix in with the aromas of concession stands on Friday and Saturday nights at the Greene County Ag Center.

The sights of cowboys and cowgirls in western hats, cowboy boots, and silver belt buckles will be all around, while the whip of a rope twirling through the air to find its mark and the pounding of horse hooves as they thunder across the arena will provide the soundtrack.

You and your children will remember these sensory overloads long after the rodeo wraps up.

This 25th year of the Greene County Pro Rodeo will hold your attention because of the added performance of famed rodeo entertainer T.J. Williams, as well as Buddy and Little Buddy, will be starring in their Liberty Horse act. Together they will all amaze all rodeo fans.

The Greene County Pro Rodeo also provides a portion of all admissions to Greene County 4-H, Camp Twin Lakes, Greene County FFA, the Cystic Fibrosis Association in honor of Holt Sapp, and the Southeastern Brain Tumor Association in honor of Brent Ogletree, Rachel Patrick Kinsaul, and Bill Bryans. The proceeds also make it possible to have two Junior Rodeos in Greene County each year for local youth.

Also, a big “thank you” goes out to the rodeo’s sponsors: GC Livestock Association, Greene County 4-H, Lake Country Legends 94.7, Smith Farm and Feed, Visit Lake Oconee, Pennington/Grotec of Madison, T and T Stone, AgPro of Madison/ John Deere, Higdon Electric, Bank South, and Keooco Development Company.

Greene County Pro Rodeo also expressed gratitude to each business sponsoring a chute gate or an event and to each business that bought an ad in the rodeo program.

Whether the sky is stormy or full of beautiful stars, come ready to have a carefree evening full of fun.

So, join the crowd April 26-27, beginning at 8 p.m. both nights at the Greene County Ag Center covered arena located at 1180 C. Weldon Smith Rd., Greensboro for the 25th annual edition of the Greene County Pro Rodeo. Tickets are $15 each for ages 13 and up, $10 for ages five to 12, and free for children ages 4 and under.

There will be free events for kids each night, too.

Ages 12 and under can try their hand at pulling the ribbon off a calf’s tail in the calf scramble. And your youngest cowboys and cowgirls, ages two to three years old and four to five years old, can saddle up the ‘ole stick horses for a race to the finish.
